And relax.....

Pretty flowers in my garden!!
Good afternoon!

Hope you are having a lovely weekend so far?!

Today, I have absolutely relaxed. Although, I was very productive this morning as I got up early to run down to the post office to send back parcels that I definitely should have sent back ages ago!!

But then I inevitably flopped for like 6 hours until basically now! I watched two films one which was in French with English subtitles, this was really weird and I did not know how to change it! Oh well, it would've been useful for my brother who is going to Paris next weekend:) I then watched St Trinians, a classic!!

Typically well actually not that typically, I had a nap outside in the sunshine that was v nice. Also, I had a little game of swing ball although I don't think my poor hand eye coordination does me any favours!!

Tomorrow at 6:15 am (omg) I am going to London to Wireless that I am v excited for!! Although I am trying to block out the early start (cry!!!) Hopefully I'll be able to post some pics and in advance I am sorry if my blog tomoz is a tad late!!

Think I am going to go in the shower after I have finished watching The Princess Diaries (love it!!) and prep/pack/get ready for tomorrow!

Thank you so much for reading!!! Recently, I have connected my Google+ account to this blogger so if u want share and follow me, I would love it!!

Hope u have a fab weekend wherever you are!!!

Lots of love

Madness on the operating table.....

Welcome!!

Well what a day...

I woke up ridiculously early at 6:30, v early today but well worth it. Today was theatre day so I had to arrive at the hospital at 7:45 to start at 8. I had to get into the theatre scrubs, basically baggy blue pjs as well as clogs, which surprisingly were comfortable and a hat that was bright yellow!!

It was so interesting being in theatre although there was a lot of hanging around. The operation I saw was a superficialisation of the upper left arm vein, I can't remember the full name!! What I found weird was that two surgeons were cutting up this man's arm and Taylor Swift was blasting on the radio in the corner!!! Also, I don't personally consider myself to be that short but I must be as the nurse got me a stool so I could see the op properly! Very funny!!!

But then there was an emergency call to the X-ray department to carry out a E.V.R.A on a patient whose aorta was v close to rupturing. This was a very exciting time although it was disappointing I was wasn't able to see the whole procedure as I had to go for lunch. What I've noticed very much is the importance of teamwork in the hospital and that the doctor is only a piece of the puzzle. As everyone is reliant on each other. It has been such wonderful experience!!!

After lunch, was our last session of the week so it was quite sad. The people I've met this week have all been so lovely and friendly- we already have a Facebook group message going!!! I was very jealous of some of them today as they were able to go in an ambulance helicopter= v cool.

Tonight, I am babysitting which if I am honest I am a tad tired for but oh well, I'm going to WIRELESS on Sunday and staying overnight in London to go shopping on Monday!! I love shopping!!

Thank you so much for reading tonight....

Lots of love

OMG!!!!

Good Evening,

This post is again later than planned tonight!!! Soo busy...

So today, I had to get up v early (well for me anyway) at 6:45:( not ideal but was well worth it as I was able to able to watch several endoscopes, that were really interesting. The consultant we were fortunate enough to follow was amazing as well as the nurses bedside manner was absolutely admirable!! Also, I surprised myself by not be squeamish during the colonoscopy. I think mindset is really important in these situations and I just kept thinking this patient is going through a lot worse in terms of pain etc therefore me feeling slightly uncomfortable with the smell is nothing!!! It is just like what a junior doctor told us yesterday about dealing with death of patients as he said each patients death is personal and only occurs once in anyone's life so you have to ensure you support them the best you can so they can have the most peaceful as possible send offs. Tbh I was v proud of myself anyway .
I think this has therefore been my fav part of work experience so far!!

In the afternoon we had a talk about applying to medical school which was v daunting and deffo made me put my thinking cap on although think I may leave that worrying until next week.

After work experience today I got myself a Starbucks, a mango passion fruit as always although I am tempted to try something new- what's your favourite drink to have??

Then I went over to my Grandmas (or Gmas as I call her) to see her which was lovely and I told her all about this week so far and how exciting and promising it has been!!I Hope you have found it interesting too?!

Anyways, I have a super early start tomorrow need to leave @ 7:15= eek!!!! But hopefully tomorrow I will see v interesting operations in theatre so fingers crossed!!

I'm so sorry I still haven't posted anymore pics but what I am doing atm doesn't really accommodate pics!! I've got a v cool weekend planned tho....

Just a thought, I loved what I was wearing today so may put some pics up in a later blog as believe it is already in the wash- lol!!!

Thank you so much for reading yet again!! Please leave ur comments below and if u even have any questions let me know!

Is PLL now a horror??!!

HELLO!

How are you all this evening? Can't believe how warm it is still!!

Today was a very exciting day! Well it started off a tad rubbish as it decided to torrential rain as soon as I got out of the car that was typical as I had no umbrella!! But then I went to observe A&E and this afternoon we had a talk from a junior doctor that was really interesting.

When I got back home, I was so shattered I actually fell asleep on the garden furniture!! Oops!! I had the biggest bowl of pasta afterwards- v tasty!!

PLL new ep was on Netflix so I watched= wth (initial reaction!) The dance at the beginning was really freaky and I have to say each week it is getting scarier in my opinion!! I love it tho:) Really hope Hanna and Caleb get back together too soon. (Sorry I am partial to a tad of romance.)
As well as obvs finding out who Charles is/A?! Is it Leslie?? Please let me know what u think???

Tonight I also watched Child Genius! The little children are ridic clever- Thomas= insane!! Does anyone else watch it?

Tbh is it the warmer weather or is it just me but I am getting sooo tired atm! Are u?

I think I will end the blog here tonight, time for some shut-eye!! Also, sorry for the lack of pics tonight, think there will be double trouble tomoz!!

Thank you so much for reading again and please leave a comment even if it is just "I love/hate PLL", I'd love to see your blogs as I am finding it hard to navigate blogger!!:)

Reminiscing about Wimbledon...

Beautiful flowers in a hanging basket

Red and white flowers- v vibrant!!

Here's a pic from Wimbledon last year!! V lucky:)

Another beautiful sunny day!!!:):):)

Today was another v interesting day on work experience. Firstly I went to a Cath Lab that looked at patients heart to primarily check that the blood vessels are all working normal and none of them are blocked. Consequently, I therefore saw intervention on patients who had blocked vessels, for example one patient had to have a stent to widen the blood vessels. This is because if the blood vessel is blocked  it could cause a heart attack.

In the afternoon, I learned lots of different clinical skills which tbh I found it be tricky! First up was injections so we had model arms that we had to inject. Another skill was looking at vital signs so blood pressure, heart rate and temperature and how you can measure these things to then decide what the next action should be and the amount of monitoring a patient requires. Moreover, perhaps my favourite was taking blood because probably I could do this one!! Finally, we learned how to do stitches on a patient which you would assume would be fine especially if you are a keen sower but as unfortunately I am not I found this the  most difficult especially with all the utensils that you had to use.

However, all these struggles did not really matter because it was so so so so hot! It seems this week is always boiling as it was last year when I was in London. Actually, this time last year I was in Wimbledon!! My mum and I were trying to remember who we saw play and I think we concluded we deffo saw Tsonga but not sure of the opponent! I loved Wimbledon especially being able to go onto Centre Court and sit relaxing on Henman's Hill.

Tomorrow I am going to A&E which should be very exciting. But from someone's account today A&E was v quiet so they were not able to see much. Hopefully tomorrow will be busier (that I know sounds wrong:/)

Finally, I'd just like to say I can't believe in three days of me starting this blog I have had 100+ views- crazy- thank you!! But please remember to comment and leave your views or opinions on anything I have written about, especially if I have something wrong or if you have any advice etc for me! V much appreciated!!

Thank you so much for reading!!

First Day Nerves...

Good Evening!!

It is a beautiful evening tonight. Hope you are all well.?

Today was my first day of work experience and it was soo interesting. We had the induction this morning (that was kinda boring, shh) But this afternoon, I really enjoyed it! We went around 4 different activities from monitoring heart rates to looking at skeletons although I didn't know that much about it!! My favourite part was probably learning how to use a defibrillator, it was surprising how easy it was to use. Moreover, I enjoyed the airways section where we had a go at putting tubes down a dummies mouth as well as using a oxygen mask and pump. Finally, we had a go at simulation with a full sized human dummy, that was slightly weird as it talked, blinked etc but it was all pretty cool tbh!!!

I have to say, I am so excited for the rest of the week especially Wednesday and Friday when I get to go to A&E and theatre, I wonder what'll I will see...

Tomorrow I am going to a Cath Lab that I believe is to do with cardiology, which hopefully will be productive. There's also a clinical skills session in the afternoon that will be good- love it when it's hands on!!

When I got back home after the work experience I had a mini Pink Raspberry Magnum that was delicious- I'd deffo recommend!

Think I'm now going to have a shower and then head to bed- v tired after today!!

Thank you all for reading :)

The big '75' balloons!!
The gorgeous, terrific and deffo not yappy yorkie!!

The chocolately chocolate cupcakes!!!!

Good Evening!

Did anyone see Kanye headlining Glastonbury last night- singing Bohemian Rhapsody, wth!!! He is pretty cool tho, would have loved to have seen him, a few of my friends were there- well jel!

I had a lovely sleep, didn't wake up until 10, oops! Although, it is better than the night before when I woke up at half 6 :(

Today, I went down to my Grandma's for lunch for her 75th birthday! It was delightful, my uncle prepared a delicious spread even though I am a fussy eater- that can be a nightmare, I know! My grandma's back wasn't feeling so good today- btw she badly bruised the back of her back falling off a stool a couple of weeks ago. My grandma's little Yorkie- literally little he is tiny but so cute. How could I forget, the amazing chocolate cupcakes we had- pure cadbury chocolate icing= crazy good!!! So tasty could eat them forever.....

I am starting work experience tomorrow- eek! I am going to my local hospital which should be exciting but still quite nerve-wracking. The dress code seemed quite strict so I've bought some new trousers and blouses/shirts to wear- I will have to show you them. Hopefully, by doing this work experience I will able gain a greater idea of what it means to be a doctor- a career I hope to follow, fingers crossed on my grades this summer.

I was meant to be doing my Dofe expedition this weekend but think I had a lucky escape as it was torrential rain this morning!!! (I am doing it in two weeks time because this one meant missing a day of work experience that wasn't ideal)

I've realised I use a lot of '!' does anyone know what I can replace this with?! (there we go again)

Currently, I am watching 'Escape to the Continent',  I have always loved property programmes, it is so interesting. Especially when the houses are beautiful, it is so dreamy!! My favourite are any programmes with Kirstie and Phil- love it, love it, love it!

Hope you are well and thank you so much for reading!!
